Catalyst doesn’t have these. For Cairo enterprises building or refreshing a data center network, deploying Catalyst where Nexus belongs is a decision that creates limitations within 18 months.

1. Nexus 9300 Series — The Spine-Leaf Workhorse

If your data center still runs spanning tree, the architecture needs a review.

Under-specifying uplink bandwidth. Server network interfaces are fast. Storage networks are fast. The oversubscription ratio between server ports and uplink capacity is where most Egyptian data centers create invisible bottlenecks. We’ve seen environments where the switching layer looks fine until someone runs a large backup job and everything else slows to a crawl.

Buying Nexus hardware without ACI planning. Nexus 9000 hardware runs in ACI mode or standalone NX-OS mode. Switching between them requires a full reconfiguration. Buying 9000 hardware with a plan to “add ACI later” often means a disruptive migration that could have been avoided with better upfront planning.
